After heavy rain at the end of September 2024, the Environment Agency put a flood alert on the Rivers Rib and Quin, which covers Standon and Puckeridge. Low-lying land and roads near Station Road were most at risk, though flooding of homes wasn’t expected.
The alert was lifted on 2 October, with a reminder that standing water and debris could take a while to clear.
The Rib has a long history of autumn floods. If you live near the river, you can sign up for free flood warnings for your address at gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings.
